About Lyss

Hi! I'm Lyss (Alyssa, officially). As your counselor, I will work to create a space for you to feel welcomed, protected and cared for. You will find the freedom to bring your truest self: all of your joys, shame and pain. Here we will walk together—at your pace—towards a deeper understanding of yourself in order to build an authentic and abundant life. I have found my passion in working with women (both adolescents and adults) who find themselves in painful places, whether from traumatic experiences or from the inner voices of shame, and working together towards healing and peace.

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California (see credentials below). I specialize in individual therapy and couples therapy. I use an integration of Catholic spiritual and religious beliefs into psychological treatment. My approaches include integrating cognitive-behavioral, attachment, experiential and mindfulness-based psychotherapy techniques including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy, AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy).
